A delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan, comprising Mr. Kabir Sherali, Minister of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan; Mr. Saad Khairullo Samadzoda, Director of the Smart City; and Mr. Shohnazar Kholnazarzoda, Deputy Head of the Communications Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, participated in the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC 2026) held in Shanghai, People’s Republic of China.
The World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC 2026) and the High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance took place from 17 to 20 July 2026 in Shanghai, People’s Republic of China. The event is recognized as one of the world’s leading international forums dedicated to artificial intelligence, bringing together representatives of governments, international organizations, research institutions, leading technology companies, and digital technology experts from around the globe.
As part of WAIC 2026, participants attended high-level forums, exhibitions showcasing the latest technological innovations, presentations of cutting-edge achievements, competitions, scientific conferences, and bilateral and multilateral meetings. Throughout the conference, discussions focused on the development of artificial intelligence, digital security, next-generation communication networks, the digitalization of public services, and the responsible use of AI technologies.
The primary objective of WAIC 2026 is to strengthen international cooperation and advance the global governance framework for artificial intelligence. The conference is aimed at promoting the safe, equitable, and effective application of AI technologies while supporting the sustainable and orderly development of the AI sector for the benefit of the global community.
