On 17 July, the Head of the Communications Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, Isfandiyor Saаdullo, met with the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Tajikistan, Ms. Kavilmadam Ramaswami Parvathy.

The Head of the Communications Service emphasized that the Republic of Tajikistan, as a Member State of the United Nations, attaches particular importance to strengthening multilateral cooperation, especially with the UN specialized agencies, including the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Universal Postal Union (UPU).

It was also noted that under the leadership of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, Tajikistan continues to advance important international initiatives and remains committed to strengthening constructive cooperation with the United Nations.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the effective implementation of the Communications Sector Development Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan through 2040, the advancement of the UN80 Expertise-on-Demand initiative, the Early Warnings for All programme, the GIGA project, as well as other priority areas of mutual cooperation.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their readiness to further strengthen and expand mutually beneficial cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the United Nations, particularly with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Universal Postal Union (UPU), in the fields of information and communication technologies and sustainable development through the implementation of joint initiatives and projects.
