Review of Winter Preparations at the Communications Service
On November 26 of this year, a meeting was held at the Communications Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan between representatives of mobile operators, the State Unitary Enterprise “Smart City,” and the Ministry of Internal Affairs with Beg Sabur, the Head of the Communications Service.
This meeting was organized at the initiative of the Communications Service. It discussed the preparations of mobile companies for the winter season, the state of mobile communication services across all regions of the country, the increase in complaints and inquiries from mobile subscribers with the onset of winter, and other issues related to the sector.
The Head of the Communications Service, Beg Sabur, expressed serious concern over the growing number of complaints from citizens about the poor quality of communication in various regions of the country. He also highlighted the results of quality monitoring conducted directly by the Communications Service, emphasizing the unsatisfactory quality of services and frequent delays and negligence by mobile companies.
“Although in recent years, reforms and modernization in the telecommunications sector have accelerated significantly, companies have still failed to properly ensure high-quality radio coverage. Even quality inspections conducted by the Communications Service in Dushanbe revealed that the quality of communication in many areas does not meet the required standards. This situation compels us, in addition to increasing the reconstruction and modernization of base stations, to tighten control over the activities of mobile operators. For irresponsible practices, we will apply measures in accordance with the law, ranging from fines to initiating criminal cases and revoking operational licenses without exception,” stated Beg Sabur.
During the meeting, a representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was urged to enhance cooperation with the Communications Service, in agreement with the Minister of Internal Affairs, to monitor the state of mobile communication services, particularly the uninterrupted operation of base stations and the accountability of company representatives in the regions.
In conclusion, mobile operators were once again strictly warned that, despite winter challenges and power shortages, they must ensure the continuous operation of base stations in their areas of activity and immediately continue practical work to expand radio coverage and improve service quality.
