Meeting between the Head of the Communications Service and the UNICEF Delegation

On October 23, 2025, a meeting took place between the Head of the Communications Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the delegation of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), led by the Co-Founder and Co-Chair of the “GIGA” initiative, Mr. Christopher Fabian.

GIGA is a joint initiative of UNICEF and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) aimed at connecting every school in the world to the Internet. To date, the project has successfully mapped schools in 142 countries worldwide.

It should be noted that, considering the announcement of 2025–2030 as the “Years of the Development of the Digital Economy and Innovation,” this initiative may play an important role in advancing these goals.

In this regard, during the meeting, the parties discussed the practical implementation of the “GIGA” initiative in Tajikistan to promote the development of the digital economy and connect every school in the country to the Internet. They also agreed to maintain regular dialogue to ensure the successful implementation of this initiative.
